STORAGE TIPS
Get practical tips to pack, store, and protect your belongings with confidence.
1. Label Like a Pro
Grab a bold marker or color-coded stickers and label every box clearly. Future You will be so thankful when you’re not opening 12 boxes just to find one coffee maker.
2. Use Strong, Matching Boxes
Sturdy boxes in similar sizes stack like a dream. They’re safer, more stable, and help you maximize every square foot of your unit.
3. Keep “Need-It-Now” Items Up Front
Seasonal décor, business supplies, tools — whatever you’ll grab often — keep it near the front. No one wants to dig through half a unit for Christmas lights in December.
4. Wrap It Before You Stack It
Blankets, furniture pads, and bubble wrap are your best friends. A little protection now prevents scratches, cracks, and regret later.
5. Leave Yourself a Walkway
Create a small aisle down the middle of your unit. It might feel like you’re “losing space,” but being able to reach the back without unloading everything is worth it.
6. Break Down the Big Stuff
Bed frames, tables, shelving — if it comes apart, take it apart. You’ll save space and make your unit feel twice as organized.
7. Skip the “No-Go” Items
For safety, don’t store flammables, hazardous materials, perishables, or anything illegal. When in doubt, just ask — we’re happy to help.
8. Keep Items Off the Floor
Use pallets or shelving to elevate boxes. It helps with airflow, keeps things cleaner, and adds an extra layer of protection.
9. Heavy on the Bottom, Light on Top
Stack like you’re building a pyramid. Heavy, sturdy boxes on the bottom. Lighter, fragile items on top. Gravity always wins.
10. Think Vertical
Don’t forget about height! Stack safely and consider shelves to use every inch of vertical space.
11. Clean Appliances Before Storing
Wipe everything down and let it dry completely. Leave refrigerator or washer doors slightly open to prevent odors. Future You will appreciate that fresh start.
12. Take a Few Quick Photos
Before disconnecting electronics or equipment, snap a picture of the cords and setup. Reassembly will be 10x easier later.
